For me it has. Trips have kept me away from bowhunting the early season and I missed waterfowl OD. But, there have been very few posts about either here. Just one of those falls where we are all tied up in other things?
Or just really bad hunting?

I have hunted the public pheasant release sites almost every day since the opener - weekends excepted. It's been pretty decent. Some days the dog screws up, some days I miss, and some days a bird dies. So far eight birds down. I leave Monday for a week in Eastern WA , pheasant hunting and walleye fishing.

Well I shot my first deer this year, a little forkie wt, so I'd say it's been a great season. My buddies have done just as well with a real nice early season archery buck and gun camp went 4 for 4. Best season ever Grouse has been average but the pheasant opener was slow. Too warm and crowded but plenty of time to get that turned around.

I have not done any bird hunting yet. I got home from Ak and only had 2 days to put togather my deer hunting gear. I took a dz friends to my deer groungs, and 10 shot bucks. Nothing to get fired up about but legal bucks so that works. I leave the pups at home so I dont get distracted from the deer hunting. My better half didnt get her buck until sat so the dogs wouldnt have gotten much work anyhoo. The guys I talked too were working hard for their roosters. My son shot a few and scratched a few quail. No limits of either tho. I cant get to fired up about spikes but I might go elk hunting a few days this week. Maybe. If I dont. It will be quail and roos...or fishin. Unless I have a special tag, or some weather the yearly elk hunt is on the back burner. Hope the snow geese show up in #s

Got 1 bear and a nice mule deer so far this year. Played with elk for 9 days and was in them daily. Just didn't have the true spikes show close to where we were.

Heading out with the boys Thursday to get their deer tags filled. Had a client refer a friend to me who had some pet goats killed by a cougar. We'll have to see how those two operations go.

Well I went elk hunting, and had a blast. Got into a bunch of animals, but no true spikes. I left tues the day before the cow opener. My buddy had a cow tag, and I found a bull, and 2 cows bedded, and I ran my friend down, and took him to them. The bull was gone but the cows were still there. He got a nice 75 ys shot on the bigger cow. She was a good 400 lbs I'm guessing. Biggest cow I've ever packed out or seen on the ground. He shot her at 11 am, and the last load was in the truck at 5. She was only A mile from the truck. Did the gutless method for the first time, and that's the way To go. Didn't even get bloody. Im not ready to retire my rifle so there are a few areas that are open for elk so I'm giving that a go. They are not known for holding many elk, but I have seen elk in a few of them..maybe I'll get lucky. Bear is open till the 15th too. Another tag that needs fillin. Fishing is good. I had the weekend reserved for the gal, and I with PHil Stevens so I have enough fish to last a while. Just not enough eggs so it's kinda tough to not fish with the nice weather. That Phil never fails to put us on big fishin.
