Just got home from Aberdeen......here's what I saw
1. Heading to Aberdeen??? Road at "Blue Slough" is open....traffic both ways.
2. Went into the Weyerhauser area across from the Bluff.....not the Bluff that slid but further East, just down from the Junction City Road. It could have been a lot worse.
3. State trucks are hauling the "waste", clear to a dump area, not far from the WDFW offices out side of Montesano. Slows the clean up process.
4. Water was down, off most main streets. I'd say by this time tomorrow things will be MUCH better......
5. Wish all the people, that lost so much, the very best.

(1 hour ago) Despite numerous reports otherwise, the City of Aberdeen, as well as Aberdeen Police and Fire confirm that there are NO issues with the South Aberdeen dike. There is an excess of water backed up, but the dike has not burst and is not currently at risk.

Aberdeen Mayor Bill Simpson has confirmed to KXRO that Kevin Dayton from WSDOT said that they are working through the night in an effort to reopen Highway 12 on the bluff to one lane in both directions within the next 24 hours.

WSDOT confirms that Highway 12 at the bluff does have one lane in each direction open.
Highway 101 North of Hoquiam will remain closed overnight.

Doc is correct......Just went for a drive.....Aberdeen is alive and well. 1 lane each way, along the buff......downtown shows no ill effects of all the water.
Haven't been to town this late in a loooooooooooooooong time, sure not like the old days.....late 60's - 70's......shift work kept all the places jumping, until 2- 3 a.m.
Streets pretty much "rolled up", gas, fast food, Walmart, Safeway....pretty much that was it.
