Any brand names you all trust?

I have a Streamlight Scorpion, about 7 years old. It has held up to TONS of abuse. CR123 batteries. My go to light. It is available for less than $50. Batteries are expensive but you can find 12-24 packs online for less. Streamlight also sells 12 packs for about $20. Duracel run about $5 for 2.

Another great inexpensive LED lights is the rugged light made by Rayovac. Home Depot is where I got mine. $16 and it takes AA's, which is a huge plus.

Does that Streamlight go thru the batteries fast?

Never did a straight timeline test, but during elk camp in 9 day's I'll go through two sets of batteries. It takes two.

Any of the higher quality LED flashlights have a wide angle to narrow beam switch?

Have long had a Black Diamond "Spot" headlamp that toggles between flood and spot. Have been happy with it but was considering a Zebralight H52 AA headlamp after reading some stellar reviews and not wanting to $urefire. Their beefier lights go from 0.01 - 1,000+ lumens in a handy package for a reasonable price.
