I wasn't sure how my daughter would feel about the drags, but I was pretty sure my son would eat it up.

They both came home and watched the whole thing AGAIN on ESPN.
I think they liked it!!!!!!!

All night till bed time my 6 year old daughter was talking Pro Stock VS Alcohol cars.
My son is all about the Nitro.



Yesterday brought back memories for me and now they can appreciate how fast those cars really go.

so tell me, were those ear plugs adequate? or did they have to hold their hands over their ears as well?

I was actually shocked there is no such thing as a pit pass anymore. It simply comes with admission. A pleasant surprise.
The ear plugs are not adequate in my opinion. I had my kids push their flat palms against their ears also when the top tree lights came on.

Piper if you have never seen them live you simply cannot fathom how powerful and fast these cars really are. I know it seems like it's not that big of a deal but you will literally be blown away by the nitro cars. If you have any interest at all then I recommend you DON'T go see them live.
If you do it wont be your last ticket purchase. TV is a joke. Trust me. Go at least once.

The best part for me was when we were weaving through the lined up cars staging behind the starting line. We cut in front of a particularly sexy orange and black Funny Car.


My son walked up to the tattooed up dude who was getting his girlfriend suited up and ready to make a run in the car. He then fist bumped him and told the female driver, "Kick some butt"!
The hard looking guy responded by saying, "This one's for you kid".
My son had no idea the dude was Jesse James.
They then went out and beat Courtney Force that race only to be beat by Courtney's father, 16 time Funny Car champion, John Force in the next race.

Here is what happened to her in one of Fridays qualifying runs the day before. It pays to have two cars and multiple engines.




My kiddo's eyes got big watching this live and my daughter turned to me and said, "I don't want to do that".

He has always been good at everything he's taken on.

Saw my first drag race at Thun Field back in 58. Have made many runs at SIR and Pacific Raceways over the years. Couple of pics with my ImpalaSS. The best place to sit is in the bleachers behind the start line. The thunder will almost stop you heart. Wear ear protection! Been around the sports car course many times also. Great fun.

Good on you WDFW for taking the kids with you.
