Making my first trip to Hawaii next Wednesday. I'll be there 8 days and wanted to do some beach fishing along with other honeymoon activities. We're staying at Makeena Beach Resort which looks like it's got some good areas close to the resort from satellite reconnaissance.

Future wife will be bringing her steelhead rod.

I've got a 6wt w/ floating line, various clousers, and trout nymphs.

Any specific fly or location recommendations?

Thanks

Hit up Mingo, ReefSkunk or Fastwater. Good luck...I'm jelly....

Thaxor,

The 6 wt is fine for small reef fish. See some of Mingo's old posts for details on that. If you have an 8 or 9 wt, and some size 4 tannish to light brown shrimp patterns, you could try for bonefish. It's blind casting mostly, and a lot of it, but the bones are good sized fish there.
