got a call this morning saying that it was my final notice that if I didn't call back I would be sued for back taxes. thinking about calling just to see what they ask for

Tell them this call may be recorded for training and security purposes.

Couple weeks ago I get home and my internet is down. A couple minutes after trying to log on I get aunomated phone call saying "your Microsoft keycode has expired, and this is why you cannot log onto the internet". I looked up the number and found out it was a scam so I called them. I played along for a minute and then told them that I was the captain of navy destroyer and had traced their location, and subsequently launched a patriot missile which would be impacting them in a manner of seconds. They blocked my entire prefix. They sounded like they were calling from India or Dubi. Scammers don't like being threatened with missles.

If they shut the net down, they are already in your computer....

I figured as much they threatened me telling they new what daughters looked like.

I tell ya, once you call these scammers out they get upset and generally call you names in their [Bleeeeep!] einglish. next time they call you and try and scam money out of you play along and tell them you have no credit card but you would be willing to trade them a good milking goat. I have been both laughed at and threatened to be decapitated for that one.

I have been meaning to try this one; next time they call play along for a bit and then when they ask for money tell them you are a homosexual and you would give them your credit card number if they talk dirty to you for a while. Seeing how these Arabs and Indians don't like homosexuals much, punishable by death, I suspect this will get them really upset and prevent them from calling you back.

Just tell them you are with the Sheriff's office and hold on the line while you call you supervisor.

As most know, law enfocement refer to crimes with a number. The Nigerian scam is a '417'. I read a book named '417' about a woman that goes to Nigeria to find the person responsible for the fleecing of her father.
It was interesting as it explained the mechanics of the scam. Internet cafes filled with young people working on a commish sending out the emails. If they get a hit, then it's passed on to somebody up the food chain. So on until they get money or the mark won't answer emails. One smart guy at the top paying the internet bills & handling the money & keeping most of it.
I didn't realize it was so well organized.

This round of the IRS calling scam is pretty impressive, I have spoke with several folks who have gotten the calls......wish there was a button you could hit to set them on fire

I always wonder if it would be possible to set up a program that responds to each email with a couple thousand different answers. Once someone set up the program, a person could just forward over the email and program would respond for you with a million different emails with fake addresses on each one, making it impossible for them to sort through their email accounts. Hopefully it would slow them down some. Sad truth is that they would not being doing it if it did not work to some degree. Somewhere some old or mentally challenged person is getting screwed over.
