Off to yakutat tonight and I was wondering what are some good methods to catch Silvers in fresh water.

Jerry...I'm off to YAK too on Monday. Haven't heard much from up north, I was also fishing the board for comments...got one response...read it under my post Alaska silvers. The fish they were catching in the salt were running larger than average, but as far as the YAK area rivers, not sure what is going on. Let me know if you hear something. Have a good trip! Dean

Try the AK flyfishers web site. They aren't exclusively flyfishing and you'd probablly get some current info on the area streams. www.akflyfishers.com

Just got back from SE Ak. and as far as catching silvers in freshwater, it wasn't too difficult. I mostly used light spinners, about size 4 or 5. I fished them close to the bottom with as slow a retrieve as I could with the blade barely turning. Had good success this way. Did ok flyfishing using a light pink shrimp imitation, made for bonefishing. Good luck.
