I qualify for that. Started drifting with a buddy that was old enough to drive. I was just 15 so he had to hitchhike back to get his car at the end of the float.

I'm right up there, 9/05/1940. I didn't row until sometime in the 1980's, when I bought "fp's", drift boat. That boat opened a whole new world for me..Hoh, Queets, Humptulips, Wynoochee, Chehalis, Wishkah, and the Satsop.

Rowing days are past, now a "jet'er" and still a walker/stand'er....enjoy being on the rivers, as much as always.....3:00 a.m., heading out soon, summer run check my jig out, love to see that float bury!!!!

Rowing? Early 1950s on Puget Sound until I was deemed old enough that parents allowed me to use the 1 1/4 horse Elgin on the skiff. Drift boat mid 70s same rivers as Drifter except never did the Chehalis but add Nisqually and Cowlitz.

My first river run was in 1979

I am not that old, just started young.

I feel somewhat honored, only been rowing since the early 60s.

Started rowing the lower Wilson in 1970, I was 10. The old man would drop me off at Mills Bridge and then I would float down to our gravel bar (7 miles) where he would load our home made drift boat up when he got home from work.

Some of the best memories of my life!

We were too poor to have a boat. Besides, the Colorado cricks we fished were too small for one anyway.

Ah...to be fifteen again and have my dad drop me and a friend off in the woods for a week of fishing and camping!

In 1960 I got a bad cut on my index finger in metal shop class. Got the day off after stitches. Went fishing in the rowboat my uncle made. Finger hurt like hell after the novocaine wore off. Maybe three hours of rowing didn't help?
