Did anyone mention Joe Steele, he was a fine player. I don't remember him that much, kind of before my time. Can anyone attest to his greatness. ?

He was an excellent running back when I was a kid, back when end zone seats were never available for pre-sale and cost...$7?
I think knee problems derailed his career.

Joe Steele was an excellent running back until he suffered devastating knee injury.
Excellent runner with really good hands.
In my opinion, would have had a nice pro career if not for the knee injury.

He blew his knee out at UCLA in the LA Coliseum.
The Bama game in 78 is where Spider Gaines had a wide open touchdown pass bounce off his facemask.
