I will be fishing for a few days in the area next week and have had bad experiences with dirty hotels. Any suggestions? Just looking for something clean, and affordable, with driftboat parking. I will have open seats too , just not sure which days yet. Thanks-TBJ

I'm not sure if it's still open... but I used to stay at the Westwood Inn right by the bridge in downtown Hoquiam. It ain't the greatest place... but it was reasonable and has plenty of parking. I also used to stay at the Red Lion. It was nicer... but added an extra 10 minutes to my morning drive to the Hump.

There are a couple of new motels in Aberdeen that are probably fairly pricey... but look nice. It kinda depends on how much money you want to spend really.

I talked with friends in Forks two hours ago. The Sol Duc was barely in and may be in tomarrow but it was still raining, the Bogi is climbing and going out. I opted to pass on what might be marginal conditions over the weekend in Forks for what should be really good for the Hump next week. I was wondering about staying in Ocean Shores it might be nice. Are'nt there some night clam tides next week too?-TBJ

Most of the motels in Aberdeen are drug infested. Red Lion might be ok, Monte Square is ok, absolutely stay away from the Stoken motel. If I were you I would look at the Quinault River Inn. It's about 20 miles past the Hump, so the drive to go fishing is no longer than from town, but the motel and scenery are much more peaceful. http://www.quinaultriverinn.com/

Monte Square, Guest House Suites are about your best choices. As F4b and larryB said, lots of scum around here, so make sure you lock it up.

I've stayed at the Guest House Inn in Aberdeen. Nice place, along the lines of most Best Westerns. I think I paid about $75/night. It's in-between the Wishka and the WalMart, and between the East-bound lanes and the Chehalis.

My brother lived in Aberdeen for a couple years. He took a 20% pay cut for another job 300 miles away just to keep from killing himself. True Story.

I'd say stay anywhere corporate whereas you might have some sort of recourse and recompense if the amenities arent up to industry standard.

Oh, and bring all you gear inside and lock your truck at night.

Aberdeen, the dismal hellhole it is, is the only Coast Guard post that freely allows opting out of for marrieds and minorities.
