With coho fishing as hot as its been decided to see if I could capture some action on my video camera. Here is the result:

Takedown Video

Takedown Video 2

For a frame of reference to how hot fishings been, I was up front cleaning the fish from video 1, at the start of video 2. First fish ~8lbs, and second ~5lbs.

Nice job. Funny how he was there quite a while before you noticed.

Did you use a GoPro?

I have a lot of footage from my GoPro (even a takedown) but the quality when I uploaded to Fbook was pure sh!t.

Very cool to see.

I was screaming at the screen on the first one. "Look at the rod! Look at the rod!"

Yeh, it took me a bit to notice. It hit just after I turned away to look at the other rod.

I filmed it with my Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS3 digital camera. Got a Gorlilla mount for my birthday, so I attached the camera to the rail with that. It takes pretty good video, that is actually on one of the lower quality settings so I wouldn't burn through my memory card so fast.

Great vids!
Nice camera as well. I bought one last year after drowning both an Olympus and an i phone 4.

One of the best things about coho...doubles and triples. On our trip to Rivers Inlet, it wasn't the big fish I keep playing over and over, it was the triple my Dad and I played (up there you can fish as many rods as you want, we had 4 out).

We were self guided. The guided boats around us were doing play by play over the radio...up and over and back and forth.

I remember reading a story in one of the local magazines about a similar instance where the guys let one of the rods just...go...with a really loose drag...kept enough tension on the fish that it stayed hooked while they played the others.

We ultimately only landed 2 of the 3 and the biggest lesson was to make sure fish 1 or 2 is completely tired before trying to net it...you can't take too much time waiting to net. That way, one of you can net solo and then get to the other guy and fish 2. Then...just start cranking on fish 3...hopefully.

Your post reminded me of how much fun that was.

Good show. What kind of rod holders are those?

I replaced the stock Scotty rod holders with Cabela's Quickdraws. I also ran a bolt through the bottom of them so only the butt of the rod fits in. Much easier to get the rod out (at least for me, my buddy had some issues) than the standard Scotty that doesn't pivot back.
