Pacific Fisheries Management Council releases 2010 salmon abundance forecasts

The Pacific Fishery Management Council (PFMC) released their 2010 salmon abundance forecasts Thursday (Feb. 25), and while things look ugly in Northern California it appears the ocean off Washington will see some fairly decent fishing this summer.

The PFMC will discuss the salmon forecasts at a meeting March 6-11 in Sacramento, California.

"The forecast for Sacramento River fall Chinook will undoubtedly draw the most attention, given the extensive fishing closures the past two years to protect this valuable run of fish," Council Chairman David Ortmann said in the news release .....
