Nice to find this site.

I am just about to finish building my first boat. It is from an old plan and is a bit on the heavy side. Likewise so am I. Therefore I am putting out a call for safe waters for beginning drifters. I would like to take a float or two without the thought of needing to call the helicopter to get my boat home.

Since you live in Olympia, go float the Nooch or the Satsop. Very easy rivers to float. Not technical at all. Only thing to watch for is if you float the Nooch below the Gravel Bar launch, make sure you walk the boat around the spillway. If you don't, you can flip boat. Have a few people drowned in the spot recently taking boats over it. But it's VERY easy compared to most.
