Need some help here. Any good sites on the web to show how to loop the line. I've also seen loops made of hollow backing, like an attatchment to the line. Which do you prefer, pros and cons of both??

Headshakes-
There are many differnt ways to do it and this is one of the best as described and diagramed by a good freind of mine.

Juro\'s Original Loop System

I, on the other hand, use mono loops. I form a small loop into 30 or 50 pound braided mono (30 for sinking lines, 50 for floating) with a splicing needle or bobbin threader and then inch the flyline up the braided mono until it butts up against the loops (4-6" or so).

I then place 3 nail knots with 12# mono over the loop at equal distances from one another and then coat with Aquaseal or Softex. This is a very secure system that is easy to do and provides positive turnover.

I make and use 50# double-locked braided mono loops, but I fly fish saltwater with shooting heads almost exclusively. The 50# braided mono gives me a connection stronger than the core of any line or head...important when you consider the forces in play at the loop when casting heavy shooting heads for distance. Heres two excellent articles on how to make them:

I normally use a braided mono loop but only a short one. I run the flyline all the way up to the juncture of the loop and do not use Aquaseal or Pliobond. I've found 1 1/2 to 2 inches secured with a couple of monofilament nail knots to be strong enough. The flyline will break before the loop

Thanks lads!

Pointed me in the right direction. Should have no problem CnR' in sea trout over here. Alot of the fishing is at night so you don't want to be tying to many knots, loops make it real slick!
