What is going on around here? This kind of thing is happening all too often. Dangerous Dave had some stuff ripped off a couple weeks ago, I know of several motors that have been stolen and now these drastic measures to steal another motor. Where is the market for all of these stolen goods??? Do that many people buy their gear at pawn shops?? Like Dave said in one of his posts, it's time engrave my name on downriggers, fish finders, radios and motors. Maybe it's also time to leave the old boat out in the drive way with the motor on it and watch it with a video camera and a baseball bat! These thieves obviously are pretty brazen and unafraid of being caught to go to the measures that they go.

mad mad Did you hear them? Those guys had to make one hell of a racket. They've either got brass balls or **** for brains. Probably the latter.
If you'd gone out there with a gun I'm sure they would have swung that tire iron at you.

I am pretty sure they were after the motor and were pissed they could not get it off. I have a 2000 Yamaha 15 HP four stroke. Secured with an Outboard Motor Lock ($20). Well the lock worked! I kind of wish the lock had failed then I would not have to buy a new trailer ($700) and maybe a new motor ($2500) because of the damage to the motor. I still cannot believe the force put on that tow rope and the way the tow rope was wrapped around the Outboard Motor Lock like it was a cleat.

If you gotta a kicker/small motor you want to secure buy an Outboard Motor Lock. They really work! laugh

As far as I know the lock brand name is Outboard Motor Lock. You should be able to find them at any sporting goods store. The lock is long and rectangular. Your handles for screw motor mounts close up inside the lock making them impossible to turn unless you cut through the thick metal rectangle.

only an x girlfriend/wife, or jealous husband would do that just for malice, otherwise it was a stupid theft attempt. frown

EL,

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I live near Federal Watts (GHETTOTOWN) myself and have heard of all sorts of crap going on everywhere. Hope you can get your insurance to replace everything in a timely manner. What type of truck was it that you had get stolen? I'm thinking about purchasing one myself and want to stay away from those that are ripped of on a frequent basis (Toyotas are notorious for being so from what I understand).

Anyway, good luck and hopefully the COPS can nail those bastages.

My truck that was stolen was a '92 Chevy C/K 1500 2WD. It has been since recovered from Portland Ave in Tacoma. Another "crack head" area.

Man EL, that's really sickening and disgusting! Can't believe the amount of complete chumps out there!

I know from personal experience that it sucks to get ripped, but it really sucks a lot more when you have to take the time to go out and replace it all!!! I feel for you man.

I'm with AuntyM on the alternate use of a tow rope for sure. mad

Hope you have a better responce from the FW cops than I did when my boat and car got broken into and stripped. They never found out anything. But I solved the problem by selling the 24' boat and getting one that fits inside. New boat catches alot more fish anyway.I have seen your boat out at redondo before looks like a fish catching machine hope you get it back in shape soon.
Messing with a mans boat is like messing with his woman.UNFORGIVABLE!!. Sounds to me like these jerks need invited out on a "fishing trip". "But officer I dont know how he fell overboard with the anchor line around his neck".Aw just wishful thinking. Good luck and hope they catch these jerks.
