Drove by the Montesano launch last saturday and saw 4 boat trailers in the lot and saw one on sunday Still a little early, here is a link for the fish checkers count down there so you can keep an eye on it.

Monday they killed them at Cosi and Monte.
It was real slow today at both locations.
Monday was the first day it was open for salmon.

Thanks for the update.......I'm headed down that way on Sunday and am debating whether or not I should launch at Monte or Cosmi.... I suppose the lower river is probably still the better bet. Is the lady at Monte Square still the best source for the local scoop?

I get better info talking to the fish checkers at the launch. I think your best bet may be lower.

Slowed considerably since the opener. A king here and there down low. Fished from the Satsop down to Monte yesterday and only managed a small king. Did not see another fish hooked. Still early...and once again NEED RAIN!

Well, I went, saw none caught, saw some dark kings jump, and will be fishing in the saltwater this weekend - not worth fishing in the river yet frown

Thanks Spawnout.........we are taking an 87 yr old guy with us on Sunday..........sure would like to hook him up with a decent day of fishing. I think it's pretty cool that he can even still go with us so I hate to skunk him. I guess maybe we need to head down to Aberdeen and fish the salt a bit........anyway, thanks for the report.......bill

Sunday was a pretty quiet day on the Chehalis. The fish checker at Monte said he had checked 132 fishermen with 20 fish......we need some rain!

Where is a good place to put the boat in on the Lower Chehalis and anything else I should know about?

Thanks,

There are several secret boat ramps. The one at Montesano is the easiest to find. Go about 1/2 mile south of Monte on SR107. Just before you cross the river go left, past the lumber company. It gets crowded on the weekends.
If you want to fish down around Cosmopolis go to the Cosmopolis launch, it is right behind the Police Department. It also gets crowded on the weekends. Not like the Cowlitz, you will find room to park.

Thanks, I was thinking of after work on the weekdays since I do not know the water and I can be there by 4pm at the latest.
