Do they make a quick release downrigger mount that fits rails? Gramps has me searching for him so I'm cutting corners and asking you guys.

Thanks

yes they do... but they also have to bear against the gunnell for full support.

Thanks piper, but I'm thinking of one that I can leave attached to the rail and just slide the rigger in to the mount with out having to tighten any screws(like the cannon mount). He has the ones you've got pictured.

I'm thinking my machinists buddy is gonna end up making them for him, but maybe there's something in production out there.

Is he using the tilting release like this one:

It only has the one thru bolt. take it out and the downrigger comes off. I have this particular mount on my boat and it works pretty good.

He's using the same one that you posted first.

The two I posted actually work together as one...

The tilting attachement that I posted second bolts directly to mount I posted first. The downrigger then attaches directly to the tilting attatchment with one thru bolt that came with it.

My downrigger came with the tilting attatchment and I had to buy gunnell mount separate.

After posting my poll concerning Scotty vs. Cannon, I ran out & bought a Scotty electric with the rail mount pictured & swivel base with the that pivot mount pictured.

My problem is.... if I raise the downrigger in the upright position & lock it at the pivot point......what can I rig up to keep it from completely going backwards into the boat if it's mounted on the rail??? what
