back on friday I hit the cascade for steel and came up empty. so I went and fished the skagit for the rest of the day down at howard miller in rockport for the rest of the day. From the bank that is. I used corkies and yarn, bobber and jig, and bobber and pink worm. All produced fish well. Fish 4 hours and landed 15 chums. All fished were carfully released even though some were bright. I was amazed that the driftboats pulling out had kept some really dark chums, yuck! Here's the goods.

Good shots Curtis. All of those fish are heading back to make a few thousand more for a couple years down the road!

Don't know about other folks, but to me the only one I might have kept would be that top pick...once that belly even starts to darken it's back they go, IMO.

This one:

Looks like a flosser and not a biter, with that hook buried in the outside corner of the mouth. That's why I won't fish corky/yarn for Chum...just too easy of pickings when they are piled up somewhere.

Every Chum or Coho I have caught this year was on a spinner. So far that is all I have fished, but it's the only way anyone can ever master the technique. It also means virtually no flossed fish...and only hard hitting, serious biters!

Yeah I new the corky and yarn fish were flossed, they never hit just stopped the line. I did catch 3 on a bobber and pink worm and one on a bobber and jig. They just crushed the pink worm but the bight only lasted for an hour, then it was corky and yarn time. ;\)

We fished the powerline hole from the east bank two weeks ago. Caught fish for three hours with light tackle. Got too sore to catch any more. Ours were all dark with some showing nasty battle scars. Will have to try the jigs and worms next time. Good job.

it must be true what they say. stripes are slimming, cause those fish look small sitting next to your boot.
