Today while on the way to a late morning hunt me and my buddy came across a poached Mulie doe. Now before I get flamed about things. It was obvious she died where she was shot, which was about 15 yards off the road. One nice large caliber hole just below the spine and had been bleeding from the mouth and nose.

Then I come across a friend who saw another doe about 2 miles away with same wound.

I am pleading with anyone out there please refrain from doing such things for FUN. If you have a tag for a doe then fine shoot take her home and enjoy the meat. But to just shoot and leave is just sad.

I don't care where you are from or who you are just refrain and let her live and maybe reproduce another year. With our deer populations on a decline and anithunting on the rise we need to really stop the BS and do things right.

Sorry for the rant but two poached in one day within a couple miles of each other just got to me.

BTW I did report it.

I would not even classify this as good poaching. Usually a poacher will take something. I would call this nothing more than blood lust or murder of wildlife and should have higher penalty.

I agree on murder of wildlife. Just floors me why people need to do this.

If you know anything of the Sinlahekin Wildlife Area not far from Omak then you might know where Forde lake is and that is where it was near.

I talked to a Game Warden a few days ago and he had not heard about the report yet but was going to look more into it.

Then while talking to him he was listening to a call of hunters in a GMU that was closed.

That is exactly where I used to hunt. Over the past few years that area has gone to hell (ever since that wa/or fish and game magazine article) and is now a zoo. Nobody see's jack anymore, and I can't even get myself to hunt there anymore because it will just depress me knowing that it isn't what it was even 5 years ago.

Yeah that article hurt a lot of the Okanogan hunting spots. The last two years I have hunted it I have talked to people who where not even from Washington but read about it.

I remember once you could drive down the road and see deer just bounding around. It also used to be a Whitetail haven. I only seen one Whitetail doe last year rest were Mulie.

I walk too. I just try finding deer on my midday drive through the Sinlahekin to a spot we go to up higher. Like I said we used to see lots of deer but bare now for the most part. They are in talks now about doing prescribed burns in it starting in 2011. That might put off some hunters for a couple years and maybe rebound some animals.

Actually I have never seen that poster. When I am driving I let my buddy do most of the looking because I have almost been hit by other drivers. I bet my buddy has seen it.

Where you there last year? If so how did you do? We did stop and hunt near Forde Lake on afternoon. Was more to go out and stretch our legs and a kid we had with us jumped something up and it climbed a rockslide. We never did see what it was but was moving fast so I am guessing was a bighorn as we have seen them there before.
