Having some fun doing a little make over on a Ruger 10/22 (non breakdown) Tactical.

Would love to see what any of you have done to your 10/22's.

Start of the Project:

Factory OEM Ruger 10/22 Tactical model.

https://ruger.com/products/1022Tactical/models.html

Step 1: Tore it down to every last part, including the removal of the barrel from the upper receiver.

Step 2. Replaced the OEM stock with a new Mag Pull Hunter X-22 stock.

https://www.magpul.com/products/hunter-x-22-stock-ruger-10-22

Step 3. Replaced the barrel buffer with a new Kidd Innovative Design rubber buffer.

Step 4. Replaced the OEM bolt, charging handle, guide rod and spring with a new Kidd Innovative Design scalloped black bolt and new black bolt handle.

Step 5. Replaced the OEM threaded 16" tactical barrel with a new Kidd Innovated Design 20" black sand blasted fluted threaded bull barrel. Also replaced the OEM barrel V block with a Kidd V block.

Step 6. Removed the top OEM rail on the upper receiver and replaced it with a pair of Talley low profile 1" rings.

Step 7. Added on a Primary Arms PA6x32-22LR ACSS Reticle scope.

Step 8. Added a #10-32x3/8 swivel stud to the forearm of the new X-22 stock. Attached a Harris folding bipod to stock.

Photos to be added when all of the parts have arrived and are assembled.

Step 9. Assemble, shoot, zero, etc.

Step 10. Future Step - replace the modular trigger with either a Timney trigger or a Kidd Innovate Design Trigger. Haven't figured that one out yet.

i bought the standard one, wood stock...

20 inch Green Mountain Match barrel..

Firefield 4-16X42 Tac Illuminated Mil Dot...

C and A Tactical custom bench trigger, Power Customs parts..

forget the brand of bi pod, it was 30 bucks...

forget the brand of rail, got it at Sportsmans, was 20 ish or so...

same with the rings, i think they are Weaver, dont really spend too much money on stuff like that for .22s...

Hogue Overmolded Tac thumbhole stock, i really really love this stock, super comfortable and very "grippy"..

it shoots lights out, but i do want to get a match bolt and extended bolt handle...

i even got Katie to shoot it, and she is pretty much freaked out about shooting guns, she thinks they will hurt her...

That's a really nice stock Evo - great selection and good looking shooter. I've always liked to bring my left hand in tight and right below the butt and hold it (when using a rest vs. off hand). That stock is perfect for locking it in dead nuts solid.

yeah i really like it... i wanted to get one for my 700 but they dont make one...

the stock Parker used is really comfortable as well, i like the grip angle, i just liked the Hogue better... if i build another one, ill probably use the one he used just to be different....

Mostly assembled now.

The bolt I purchased did not come with a new bolt rod or spring, so I had to order those..

Since I was spending money, also picked up the Kidd V Block.

Damn Taley rings were for a Model 700 action. D'oh! That crap don't work. So, I put a set of Weaver quad locking medium scope rings and a Monstrum picatinny tactical rail on it.

I'll probably eventually get a set of Butler Creek scope caps too.

Any thoughts on what a good trigger pull (poundage) should be?

This is a NON-COMPETITION of any sorts of rifle. Just a plinking rifle that will be shot by me and my kids.

The stock Ruger trigger sucks.

my trigger is under 2 pounds, i think around 17 ounces by now or so....

its very nice to shoot...

it was however about 170 dollars, like i said its got Power Customs parts, so its not just a factory trigger...

its not a Kidd or a Volq either tho...

if you want just a cheap regular trigger, get the BX trigger Ruger makes, i think they are around 80 bucks (50 ish on ebay), and they have a 2.5-3 pound break... much better than the 6-8 pounds the regular sh!t triggers are...

i do like mine, but if i were to do it again, which i may, i would go with a Volq or Timney... they run about 225, but they are all metal housing, and they come with extended mag releases, and we all know the quality those companies provide....

I'll either do a Kidd or Timney. 2-3lb seems about right. Yeah, it's gotta come with the extended mag release (the ones I'm looking at all do). At this point, I could buy 2 or 3 or 5 factory rifles with the amount I've put in "parts". rofl What's another $250 more for an exceptional trigger, right?

My rifle will be quiet. Goes Pew! Pew! Pew! Not BANG! BANG! BANG! smile

Speaking of which, think I cross threaded the butt cap on my Silerenco Spectre II suppressor. frown Actually, come to think of it, it's always been a little hard to thread on to things from the start. I just accepted it as the way it was. Really didn't like going on the new barrel, so that's when I started to take the can fully apart and reall start inspecting the threads on the butt cap. Something ain't right.....

Had to send it back to Silerenco yesterday and they said they'd replace whatever was messed up.

I fully tend to shoot this rifle suppressed only.

Photo coming when it's fully assembled and my can comes back.........

Let us all know how you deal with the blow-back fouling in your 10-22 mags. I went through several magazines before I finally just gave away the POS.

Not to mention that 22's are hard on suppressors. You gotta clean the damn cans every 500 rounds or so.

Ditty little nasty cartridge!

Do you know what you get when you put $2,000 of prime parts on a stock Ruger 10/22?

a POS with $2,000 of parts on it..
