Went over to Kettle Falls to chase whitetails. And hunt in the snow. Unfortunately, I missed the rut. The "you shoulda been here last week" thing. I chased around a few does, missed a couple of shots; one down a steep slope. On the other, the arrow hit something hard. It is amazing to see what happens when a carbon arrow hits, or glances, off something hard. Happened to me twice now, once while practicing and this time. The arrow explodes into three pieces. The head and fletching parts are short, and about the same length. An engineer can explain the flexing but it is odd to find the fletching, and no nock.

On the downside, found a dead buck (big 4x4) that had panicked in an orchard and probably broke its neck whn it hit the deer fence. A real shame. This one was certainly a "wall hanger" but he was not the "big one" that was there the week before.

Should go over there earlier, and do a lot more practice.
