we cant use spinners in N.Y. only baits and flies. i do not fly fish tho. we use minnows, night crawlers, jigs with maggots, eggs and sacks, powerbait. Are there any baits that i have not listed that may work in N.Y area. also what are some of your favorite tecniques like slip floats, jig sizes and colors etc. thanks in advance

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

jeff,

You might think about expanding your list to include the pink worm. Berkley power worms in orange sherbet and bubblegum are colors that have been effective for me. They work well both drift fished or under a float. Length of worm depends on clarity of the water, the dirtier the water, the longer the worm I'll use.

Hawk is a guy on the board from the midwest, and he's put the worm and some other west coast techniques to good use for those Great Lakes steelhead. Maybe he could enlighten you as to what he's had success with??

Good luck, and believe in the worm......

Fish on.......

I use strictly raw prawns/shrimp when I use bait. They stay on better than anything else, the little ones cannot strip them as easily and steelhead hammer them. I pull a piece off about the size of the corky or if I want to get real fancy I will cut them in strips so they wiggle like a piece of yarn.
