'll never forget the one in 2001. I was working in a old building next to the May flower Hotel at Westlake Center. My office was on the 4th floor facing Macy's. The building was built in the 20's, luckily our Headqtrs in S.F had it retro fitted 14 years ago. We still had 1.5 million dollars in damage. I thought the damn floor was going to give out, I booked it down the stairs while seeing the plaster walls fracturing, made it outside to find a lady on the side walk having a heart attack. Turned out she was going to be ok. The thing I remember was a huge dust clowd looking south on 4th ave from all of the mortar. I thought for sure the viaduct was pancaked, and I was going to walk home to Alki Point, caught the first bus to West Seattle. I stopped at the market and bought two cans of beer to calm my nerves, the checker told me a lot of People were doing the same thing lol.

I can't imagine going through the one in Japan....that mfr lasted 7 MINUTES. I was playing general contractor for a year or more while doing my other job. I was glad when it was all over.
