We always seek to tie things up in nice neat packages. This situation, like most, is pretty complicated. Golddigger's list is accurate as far as it goes, however, there is much more. Our society is incredibly noisy, people have to shout loudly to be heard. The shooters are shouting very loudly. For those that absolve Trump with his racist, misogynistic tweets and statements, I would ask you to look at the Advertising industry - a multi billion dollar industry designed to influence people. Trump has the bully pulpit and he uses it more effectively than any President in my history. Presidents, by their very nature, have a great deal of influence. Not to say that politicians of the other stripe don't try the same thing, they do, but their influence is not as great as the President.
