I have experienced similarly slow turnaround on orders for components. He's the definition of small business, basically does things on the side, on his own, when he gets a chance to do it. I don't think he has staff, or even a dedicated shop for it. That said, his matte silver plate is the best, so I keep ordering from him. Best to order 6-8 months in advance, and then give gentle reminders. Or get your stuff elsewhere. It is what it is.
