Is there a setup that doesn't work in Sekiu? jk!

Does anyone think that there is a particular setup/technique that consistantly catches bigger fish vs a setup that catches smaller fish? While I was up there this last weekend, the flies and spoons were nabbing small ones while herring was accounting for the bigger ones. Is this your experience or is it all just kind of a big crap shoot? In other words, can anyone catch a slab on anything?
