My experiences fishing the area has been great. I'll be up in that area again this summer (three years running), and expect similar results as previous years.

I've always gone in July and August, so I don't know what the fishing will be like in June. I do know that they get early runs of kings, so fish will be available. You may have to work for them, but you'll get into fish.

As for bottomfish, such as halibut and ling cod. They are for the taking, although not as numerous in numbers as other areas such as Nootka Sound or Barkley. Last year while fishing the 2nd week of July I helped a guy from Chinook Cove land a 164 pound halibut. That's more than enough proof for me. I never fished for halibut or ling cod, but I did cathc a few ling while trolling for salmon.

The enf of July and the first few weeks in August are your prime times. This will get you into four runs of salmon such as sockeye, pinks, chinook and silvers. Silvers will be open August 1, sockeye will be decided later in the season.

Good luck!
