Unfortunately Washington State does not want Canadian salmon brought back by boat to US waters. This has been worked on by several groups including PSA Bellingham. They worked with WDFW and in the end they slammed the door on them and said there was no interest there. Go Figure. Apparently they have never been to the Canadian/US Border in the summertime to see the thousands of trailered US boats going in. All cases to date that I have heard of with people being ticketed for this, were thrown out of court. This really makes me ill. We caught a nice big king at Swiftsure last year while Canadian Halibut fishing. Was closed for Kings at NB until the following day. Had to throw it back. I would like to see if we could get a larger group together to push this through again. I believe they would come back with we are targeting ESA listed fish. PSA Bellingham was going on the fact of targeting Canadian runs and not US. I would love to fish Sooke by boat.
