For starters your pole will work just fine. I'd go buy some 2-4oz cannonball sinkers and buy a handful of k15 chrome and chartruese kwikfish. I prefer running a single siwash off the back with a 4 bead chain but a lot of guys run the trebles. Buy some beads so you can thread them on your mainline above your barrel swivel. Run a 6' leader to your kwikfish tied to the duolock swivel it came with. Use a 3' weight dropper tied to a snap swivel that you hook to your mainline above your beads.

Go to any launch and head out into the river and look for a concentration of boats and do what they do.
