Glad to here it FisherMan8989. Flossing is were your line passes through or around the fish's mouth and you feel a "bite" and set the hook which will set in or around the fish's jaw. Also called lining. And the a-holes that do it can keep a fish that has been hook from the gill plate forward to the tip of the snout. The cowlitz river is the flossing capital of Wahington. Why do you think that the people on the Cowlitz use 5-6 or even a 10 foot leader? I fish there a couple times each steelhead/salmon season with a 3-4 foot leader and catch just as many fish, sometimes even more, then they do. But mine bite!
