being the gear nut i am...i want to change the wrap colours on my big honkin' spring rod...currently there are about 12 or 14 guides and each one is nicely wrapped (rod built 4 yrs ago) with bright yellow wrap and matching paint...but what i want now is the rod to be even more distinct...and crazy lookin'...so i want to make a rainbow of colours on alternate guides...like yellow....blue....orange...red...pink...green....?...but i figure i do not want to duplicate the colours more then twice...so 7 individual colours at least...

my question...HOW DO I DO IT??

I have no idea how to start...and the guy in the fishing store said he would do it for $5 a guide...or about $80 with taxes and all...

I figure i have to somehow remove the existing laquer/glue? on the wraps...then unwrap?...then re-wrap (can i use any thread..like some stuff in a dress supply store?)...then paint (same question...can i use hobby store paint)...the reglue/laquer 9is it a separate glue AND laquer...or a single product?)

any other info greatly appreciated...

regards
