You might just want to pay the $80 and have it done. You'll probably spend $40 for the gear to re-wrap the guides. Then you'll have $40 worth of hassle to do the work yourself.

When you build rods,you really should use the products made for rod building. Theres a system to building rods,and using some craft store thread and some funky epoxy,won't get you the results you're looking for.
