My Favorite go to is any green or white green/white combination hoochie with a herring strip on the leading hook.

You have to bait the hook correctly so the hoochie doesnt loose it's action. Put the herring on and check it out in the water before deploying it. You dont want a hunk of herring sticking off that drags in the water. I tuck the head of the fillet in the hoochie head a little so it stays more streamlined.

edit: The proper way to hook the fillet is to start the hook in the meat side of the fillet at the head of the fillet, then go back through. Then run it bast the bend in the hook to the shank. This will keep the shiny side of the fillet pointed out while it spins and darts behind the flasher, and out of the gape, adding to the attraction.


In my circles it is known as "proven" because it has proved that it out fishes everything else.
