I was up there for the weekend, and here's what I observed...

The Sauk below the Whitechuck is pretty milky, and is positively opaque below the Suiattle. Due to that, the Skagit below the Sauk runs from almost no visibility right at the mouth, to pretty milky all the at the freeway, probably 6 to 8 inches, or so.

The Skagit above the Sauk is pretty much gin clear, and there is a small stretch of fairly decent visibility below the Baker on the south side of the river.

The Skagit at Howard Miller was clear, but I still couldn't seem to see the bottom due to the zillion humpies up there...my back and shoulders still ache.
