Great story Todd. Reminded me of our old lab "Grizz". Was an awesome fishing dog. Would simply sit and wait for us on the bank while we fished. Never moved until we were getting ready to leave. Then, we'd let him hit the water if, and ONLY if there were noone else around, or if guys said ok. If too many people, we'd take him around a bend or two to let him have his fun (actually scared some fish into slots for guys lol). Was a sad day for us when his health problems got so bad that we had to put him down (he was 15 at the time). Same problems and a couple more. Miss him dearly.

My Lab now is a spazz. He's a wonderful boat dog. Simply lays down in bow or on floor while we fish. But I would NEVER EVER take him with me fishing the bank. He's a people dog (anyone who attended my jig tying clinic would attest to that). So I know better not to take him bank fishing with me. But in the boat, he's an angel. Actually on the bank he is too, but he wants to be pet and played with. I keep him under wraps (as in, in the car), or on a leash if on the bank if I'm just walking down to check out a river.
