A few comments regarding the data posted on this thread:

Regarding federal spending:

1) Are the dollars to run military bases, Indian reservations, and National Parks included in the "federal dollars in" catagory?? All of these tend to occur in less populous states and could easily skew the data.

2) Shouldn't there be another column entitled "Federal revenue generated"????

This would include BLM land leases, dams, forest revenue, and so on. The "federal dollars in" may be going to administer/manage these producers of revenue and so the revenue generated should be added to the other side of the column.

Regarding the teen pregancy data, Delaware, at 46 percent, is surrounded by a bunch of other Eastern seaboard states running at around 25 percent. Why is that? Does Delaware not offer the pill while evey other state around them does??? Delaware stands out like a sore thumb amongst a bunch of states with the same industrial base and life-style. IMHO a more detailed examination of Delaware versus the other adjacent states may allow one to better understand the data as a whole.
