IMO there is no 'one size fits all' in terms of lens color. It will vary depending on available light. For instance: a brown lens works well in bright sunlight when it's clear, but in bright overcast conditions a copper, rose, green or light gray lens is much better. I know my brown lenses make thing seem very "flat" in overcast conditions. I also think that more so than color, the amount of tint plays a major part.

BTW...I'm curious how many of you sight fish for steelhead anyway
