"its not like there is a secrete "good" music society out there that knows something the rest of the public does not."

ummmm...that's exactly what it's like. some people choose to have their stuff handed to them on a silver platter....they get all their stuff from the radio and Mtv...fine for them and frankly, fine by me. but i have news for you b-run...if you think radio (aka big giant record companies) are giving you the best of what's out there 'you've got another thing comin'....

...they are giving you what they think they can sell you. If you are happy with that, more power to you. To me though it just epitomizes everything that's wrong not just with the music industry but American culture as a whole....we get our meat from megaranches, our vegetables from megafarms, buy our groceries from costco, do our christmas shopping at wal mart, and get our music from the radio...wtf happened to the little guy in this country?

I prefer fresh, locally raised meat. I prefer to grow my own vegetables or buy them from the co-op. I prefer to shop for groceries at the corner store. I do all of my christmas shopping in mom and pop shops. I find my music through networking. Yes, sometimes it takes a little more effort to live this way but in the end not only is it more rewarding for me personally, it benefits and enriches the local communities I patronize....

...i'm not trying to change anyone's mind on this stuff, like i said i know enough about this business to recognize the futility of that effort. What I'm after here is challenging people to get them thinking...also often an exercise in futility.

cheers
