Back in the day all we had was the Fenwick brown glass rods and we pulled M2 flat fish and they worked well. Now the stiffer Fast actions were designed and we all jumped at that as well because it was funner to fight and feel the fish with. Now correct me if I'm wrong but was the origional Flat Fish designed to fish with the Glass rods or the new xtra fast rods? Good question right! The bass guys like glass or composite rods to fish crank baits so kind of the same as Plugs would you not think. Reason being the bass guys like that type of action is because it alowse the plug to run true as well as it helps from pulling hooks when they jump ETC. To each his own I fish both Hot shots and Glass/graphite rods and we sell both but really its up to the fisherman. I have spent over 20 years pulling plugs and for me 8 times out of ten the glass rods get the take down as much as I hate fighting fish on them they work! Diffrent action because of the softer rod, maybe the Bass guys have something here? I also fish Braid so the slower action of the rod helps in both hook ups as well as landing fish not to mention rod breakage is way down. Keep in mind our Composite rods as well as Lami I think are not like the old sloppy Joes of Eagle Claw or Fenwick they do have some graphite in the lower end for stifness and power so they are perfectly balanced. I use the BP1024 for pulling Kwickies,Jet diver,Deep six,hog line spoon, keeper Sturg, and down rigger fishing. PLugs like tads, wiggel warts I use IP964 and Hot shots HS9000 and 9001 because they are a tight running plugs. Boy its nice having over 400 blank models for me to choose from.Thought I would explain my reasoning it works for me! Tight Threads!
