Personally Ill take my 981's and 2' s over any plug rod made. I like em in GL3. Super light, super senative and serious backbone power for slowing them down.
HUH???
I Saw your reply in the classifieds wanting the GL2. I couldn't understand why a guy with your apparent knowledge and ability would be so insistent on not using anything but a GL3 for pulling plugs, then go after a GL2 casting rod.
Just an observation...
Good observation. Not sure why it matters, but the answer is...my brother is getting into fishing more and more. He is collecting a decent arsenal consisting of GL2's. This will be his second we have bought in a week now. For 150 its a great deal. Especially how light this has been used. He dosent know much about them. So I've been directing him.
I use GL2's also. All my coastal bay trolling rods are SAR1265's. I dont need as sensative rods when Im hanging up to 12 ounces on them. Also the GL2's are awesome in the riggers. They dont break. Even after years of severe service. No other high end rod has ever matched that. And I've tried em all.
The GL3's are also a awesome crossover Hoover rod. Which need to be very sensitive to feel the nibble sometimes. Otherwise, for pluggin, the GL2 is just fine.
I also use the 981's for big spinner rods too. So there a great all around rod. Hence the GL3 graphite. Even though its not really needed for spinner fishing as the bites are usaully very evident. Except them slack line silver bites.
Thanks for asking.
