I meant it like you read it. "Throw slack to nipping trout", they come back and grab the fly when it's stationary. Pick up the slack about a second later and they'll be there.

Trout like whatever color leech is in front of them. Usually when they are feeding on mostly leeches, there's not much else around for food. Early spring and late fall are very productive with leeches.
