Someone asked for the progress of the issue, so here you go. This is the straight scoop right from the two folks running the bills through the house and senate.

Hi Senator Hatfield,

I had spoken with Brian Blake about running HB 1016 prior to the beginning of the session. Brian is a friend of mine, but I live in Senator Sheldon’s district, in McCleary.

I see where Brian’s bill had made its way through the house and was passed a few weeks back. I know Brian had asked you to run the companion bill and that it has made its way through the judiciary committee, but is currently stalled in the rules committee. Do you anticipate the bill making it out of the rules committee, and if not, is there anything that I can do to assist the bill?

Just wondering what the next step in the process is for this item.

Both bills are alive and well. I would certainly prefer the using Blake’s bill, over mine, as it is now WAY ahead of the process. Hopefully, it will be one of the first House bills heard by the Senate Judiciary Committee, when we start hearing bills from the opposite house….
