But alas, that has little to do with ethics. Ethics and law are not the same. It is legal to do a lot of things- like shoot pen raised pheasant- ethical? Not in my opinion. I make mention of ethics in my posts but try to always validate them with the fact they're MY ethics.. I don't claim to have the RIGHT way to do things, but I don't mind pointing out when I think things aren't kosher. If you don't challenge people's views, how can anyone hope to improve themselves?
I have known people that raise pheasant in them pens your talking about so you people can go shoot them up. bulletin! news flash! pheasant are not native to washington state. Chances are you are shooting pheasants that were raised in a pen. wdfw pays people to raise pheasant so they can release them in hunting areas.
As far as personal attacks go this board has alot of people name calling and subject changing when the going gets tough.
Assalyanizm is a good person, and ethical he doesnt shoot ducks that are on the water but he enjoys the challenge of calling ducks to land in his decoys. He only shoots them in the air. So what if he doesnt spell that great or write fluently, neither did Albert Einstien
BBVD,
Some people would call leaving your decs out overnite unethical. Do you know why you cant leave them out overnite on public lands?
The scout lake scout rd scout........
This post was funny but I was once 14 and nobody In my family fished or hunted. Its possible that the kid honestly had absoulutly no knowledge of where to start. Good advise yes, proper format no, do I think some people are a little sensitive yes. Dont swear in church, and dont be a smart ^$$ to a 14 year old newbie bust him in easy. The more people we have in the outdoor sports the better chance we have of continuing what we all love to do. [/b]It's actually fairly obvious were the WDFW plants those birds- on state land (occassionally) and on RELEASE SITES... I don't hunt release sites, but do hunt public lands. Pen raised birds also come with a odd little addition (along with 80% lacking much of a tail) that wild birds never have- a leg band.
I hunt WILD birds. Chukar and huns aren't native either, but they do have WILD populations. I prefer the birds I shoot to have a sporting chance and provide a challenge to my skills. Sorry, I don't find planted or released birds to be a challenge! Canned hunts are by far my biggest concern- not because I feel for the birds- but because they are a black eye on sportsmen. Other than for dog training and perhaps for those who are physically uncapable to do anything else, I really don't see how one can justify stuffing a pheasant tight in to a clump of sage brush so I can then walk up, KICK IT OUT, and shoot it..
I never talked down to Assalyism. Argued, absolutely. But I never got personal. I don't agree with how he hunts ducks- a duck jumping off the water moves a heck of a lot slower than one flying in to decks as well as they then lack much of the range of movement when they jump. I don't like it and would never make it a practice...But he's obviously fine with it and has a good time, I'm sure... I don't think he's less of a person because he dissagrees with me.. He's perfectly within the law and his own conscience. And that's what counts.
If push came to shove, I'd support his right to shoot ducks as he wishes than to ban it to go along with my ethical viewpoint.
