I'm nearly certain that lings are not sculpins. Cabezon would be the largest member of the sculpin family.

Double dongs will always work if a predator is willing to eat something that big. I'm curious if a 10 pound burbot would eat the same size bait as a 10 pounds ling?

Sculpins are of the family Cottidae and lingcod and greenling are Hexagrammidae. They are indeed very different. The big bad mofo of the Cottidae is the Cabezon which can reach 20-25 pounds but still a snack for a ling grand mother......
