I wonder what skills Boeing teaches Machinists? I really have no idea what they do. Is it easily transferrable to other businesses? Will there be a bunch of companies around Pugetropolis who will get a sudden influx of highly talented individuals if B leaves? Will there be something for them to do?

I worked in a job where I was pigeonholed to a few tasks after a few years of being there, and while I was good at my job, and fairly compensated, and very secure, I still felt personally insecure knowing that my skill-set was diminishing to my core work, and I would not be a viable employee anywhere else should my job go away (I worked at a comma factory). I was nervous about that and quit that job ASAP.

Do machinists consider the opportunities for them if B leaves?
