I have repaired just about all the lowpro reel styles out there with this issue. my belief is that the clutch pawl is made of a metal that is just to soft. one pawl I replaced actually had the small hole that it's spring that went into, had bored a larger hole from wear that was so large the spring would no longer work correctly. I have a curado 301 dsv that I received recently that I have to fix this exact same issue. I may still have those old pawls somewhere. if I do i'll post some pics to give examples.

these issues are like brake pads on your vehicles, you will have to replace the worn down parts eventually.
