I bought a STX about three weeks ago and used it last week out at the OP. After casting, the spool would get stuck in free spool. Even after turning the crank a few times the spool wouldn't engage. I found by keeping pressure on the trigger button long enough to engage the spool was the ticket. A royal pain, but, I delt with it. I know something wasn't quite right. Just wondering if any one has experienced this?

I did return the reel in exchange for another one. So problem should be rectified.
