OK, getting reel close now after yesterday's shop-a-thon at Rainier!
I now have all the parts ready to glue up the entire rifle. Still thinking and re-thinking the stock choices. I do like the Ace that DF has on his rifle shown above. Lite weight, and simple, and as I have one ready to go in my AR bitsa box, it will likely go on the rifle for it's first light.
So off to the shops today for a final look thru with my short list of optics. I'm wanting to add a few x's to the hi end of the ole 3x9 variables I normally use for some of my big game hunting rifles. As this rifle will be a hunter first, and then a longer range fruit & plate shooter second, I'm thinking that a lite weight 3x15 or maybe a 3x18 with good clear glass should meet that requirement. Add an illuminated reticle, and we should be done.
Today's optics shopping short List: Trijicon Accupoint or Accupower, Leupold VX-6, and the SIG Whiskey5 hunting scope. Best glass and lite- weight wins!
But then I get this text from my son in law as I type this, (currently building a -10 in 6.5 creedo) telling me to run up to Bellingscram and check out the 3x24 scopes the folks at March are offering !
Hmmm ?
Believe it or not, Ebay is a good place to get a smokin' deal on a good optic.
Just vet your sellers as always.
I just got this one, NIB (sealed) for $523...

That fat 30mm tube makes my one inchers look under-nourished.
