I fished the Wind river for the first time last Friday and Saturday the 20th & 21st.Friday saw only about 6 fish caught. Saturday did not see any fish caught and at noon the checker had check none. There were tons boats and fishermen but no fish I think it's a big hype to get people down there to spend money.Saturday I had to wait over a hour to launch my boat.Maybe it's just me but I don't call that fishing. They can have it I will not be back.

Loc: Tacoma, WA,
Just got back from a trip to the Wind River, with my son and 2 other fishing buddies. After leaving Tacoma at Midnight Friday we arrived in the launch line about 4:30 and were in the water by 5:00. Fished until about 11:30 with 1 fish for the 4 of us.

Saw the Gamies, National Forest Service Enforcement, and a County Mountie (with some big A** binochs ) looking for boats outside the sport fishing line and coming into the launch. We were checked by a fish checker who also at the ramp keeping an EYE on the ZOO.

Headed for our hotel to get some sleep so that we could come back for the evening bite ( HA,HA )Fished until 7:30PM when the Wind Came up and blew us off the Lake.

We fished 4 hours Sunday morning with about half as many boats as Saturday, and it was still a ZOO, saw only 2 fish caught. The fish were way outside the line we could see them jumping and the Indians trolling about mid channel and knocking the S*** out of them. Talked to a bioligist and he said there was about 50k fish holding above the dam , they must be waiting for a "net escort" to come up the river.

I don't think we'll go back for a while! eek

I was really disappointed in the launching ability of people using this ramp. For what ever reason, there were a lot of folks who took ten minutes to launch their boat. Saturday we showed up an hour early and missed the morning bite. Well if you can call it a bite. Sounds like Sunday was a little better.

Fished the wind Sat & Sun.Saturday we boated
2 nice bright 12 to 14 pounders.Sunday we hooked 5 and landed 2.I hooked 2 and lost 2 and also lost my two All-Star mag warts in the process. For the week end my boat of three
guys hooked 7 landed 4 and lost 5 mag warts.
The place was an absolute zoo,the gammies writting tickets left and right when the line
does'nt line up with the signs on land. And to rub it in the natives are 100 yards a way
with double headers on left and right. Some things need to be changed around there. The gammies should patrol it like the bouy ten line,by going back and forth in stead of the
binoculars and three sheets of paper with the names and boat numbers written down.If there was a positive out of the week end it was at least the natives were fishin with rod & reel combo's and not nets.I don't mind
seeing that at all,but just not 100 yards a way while three hundred boats are all penned
up in a coral.Good luck,

We fished the Wind Friday thru Sunday. Picked one up Friday morning, then proceeded to get skunked for the remainder. Saturday was dead but Sunday was pretty good (for everyone else). I was disappointed to see arguments and boat-pushing matches break out on Saturday, I thought we were supposed to be having fun out there.

I agree that the enforcement people should just patrol the line instead of taking the Secret Squirrel approach. Why do we need three agencies enforcing that area? It’s not very big and everyone is in one confined place. Also, why are the game wardens so under cover? I think everyone would play by the rules if they just identified themselves as enforcement and made themselves visible. I’m not sure our money is being well spent in this instance.

None of this has dissuaded me from thinking this is a great fishery, and that we are lucky for this Spring bounty.
Good Fishing.

Sounds like a zoo and a good thing to stay away from. I was fishing from the bank below Bonni two weeks ago for three days and got nothing. Thats after going 200 miles one way. It was real slow that weekend. Fish were coming thru the dam 15000-17000 per day but do you think I could get them to bite! NOT. I will not be back! I'm about ready to trace my roots back and see if I can find some native american in me. After all we all came from Adam and Eve. It must be there somewhere!!

Good take Sockeye. How about you initiate a class action lawsuit called the "Adam and Eve Recourse for the Resourse"; to restore exacting equality for all races. I like that!
