This summer I broke my Gloomis float rod tip while trying to shuffle some gear around in the dark. beathead

So I sent the rod in with my $20 and a letter stating the above story. They called back this time and said they are shipping me a new rod and returing my $20 as well since it was clearly a defect on their part.

I thought this was cool on their part and just wanted to give them kudos for a job well done.

Why should you have to pay for a factory defect ????????What happened to lifetime garuantee of the rod??? The shipping and handling charge is just a way for you to pay for the repair...

If a rod has a factory defect, it is going to break within a relatively short time of purchase...factory defects just dont show up after 3 years of abuse.

If a rod breaks after 3 years...its not the rod's fault!
